On Sundays preseason debut for the Houston Rockets against the Shanghai Sharks of the Chinese basketball league, guard KJ McDaniels stood out with his athletic dunks and defense. McDaniels had 12 points off of 5-6 shooting, what stood out to me was the chemistry that him and Harden had connecting on multiple alley oops throughout the game. McDaniels never was given a legit opportunity to get minutes in the lineup which is frustrating especially from the lack of play making and explosiveness off the bench last year. KJ posses the skills that this teams bench lacked last year: defense, athleticism, and play making. KJ along with second year player Sam Dekker should gain minutes off the bench instead of Corey Brewer and Pablo Prigioni as its obvious that they have a better skill set and will make a bigger contribution to this team. Coach D'Antoni has tons of young talent on the bench which he needs to realize to elevate the Rockets over their hump.
